THE BUSY DAD
If I could quit my job and play video games full-time, I would. Isn't that every gamers dream? As of right now, that isn't likely to happen. When I got married and my wife got pregnant. I started to realize I wanted to spend more time with her and my child. So, as a gamer i had to learn how to micromanage my time. Let me give you a run-down of my schedule and show you where I can get the maximum gaming time in.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
I am at my full-time job for about 8-9 hours depending on how heavy of a workload we have. After work we have dinner and is a time I get to spend time with my wife, away from electronics. Spending time with my wife after dinner comes next and varies depending on what we want to do. Whether that be curling up on the couch watching a movie or just playing a board game. After we spend time with each other it turns over to my personal gaming time which goes to around midnight. This time is negotiable with my wife but for the most part she leaves me alone since she knows this is my "unwinding" time from the day and that I enjoy the time I get to game. Monday nights are typically my main streaming days starting at 8:30 p.m. Content will be released on these days and Fridays will be when I sum up my week and show my plans for the following week.
Tuesday and Thursday
Tuesday and Thursday are my LONG days because I work from the normal 8-9 hours then I go to school for another 2-2.5 hours. These days I don't get much gaming in because I will spend most of my time with my wife after schooling is done. Most of my gaming during these days will be done on my phone during "breaks" and right before I go to sleep playing on my Nintendo 3DS.
Saturday and Sunday
Saturday and Sunday are hit and miss days for gaming. These are the days where we will plan most of our friends and family visits. These days also double as days for cleaning the house and doing chores. Since my wife has been pregnant I have taken over most of the chores and have paid more attention to her. Spending time with my wife happens mostly on the weekends since our schedules are so hectic during the week. On weekends that we do not have to do anything and I am not spending time with her I can get 4-8 hours of gaming in and it is GLORIOUS!
Busy, busy, busy
As you can see my schedule is pretty insane coming into this pregnancy. I plan for video games to continue being a major part of my life but family does come first. A controller can always be put down and picked back up at a later time. A child does not have a pause button. (Don't we wish they do sometimes)
